Wausa second graders learn about pumpkin life
WAUSA – Knox County classrooms recently participated in a Nebraska Extension program featuring the life cycle of a pumpkin.
Youth participants had the opportunity to feel the inside of a pumpkin, see how a pumpkin grows on a vine, taste pumpkin seeds and create a life cycle wheel.
This session was presented by Megan Hanefeldt, Nebraska Extension 4-H youth development educator for Cedar and Knox counties.
She gave her presentation on pumpkins on Sept. 23 to teacher Courtney Clausen’s second-graders at Wausa Elementary.
Hanefeldt also recently presented to first- and second-graders at St. Ludger Elementary in Creighton and first- and second-graders at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Crofton.
Additional classrooms will take part in the activity later in October.
