WAUSA – Funeral services for Dale Rosen, 85, Wausa, were held Nov. 13 at the United Methodist Church, Wausa. The Rev. Claire Gager officiated, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wausa. Military honors were provided by the United States Marine Honor Guard. Brockhaus Funeral Home, Wausa, was in charge of arrangements. Dale died Nov. 7, 2023, at Osmond General Hospital, Osmond. Dale Herman Rosen, son of Herman and Gladys (Olson) Rosen, was born Feb. 6, 1938, at Wausa. He attended Wausa Public School. Dale served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 until 1959. On Dec. 31, 1957, Dale married Bonita Swanson in Santa Susana, Calif., where he was stationed while serving his country. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage and four children, Theresa, Don, Michelle and Donna.

After he was honorably discharged from the Marines, Dale returned to Wausa and farmed for several years. He and Bonnie purchased the feed store and cream and egg station in Wausa.

After closing that business, Dale began a 23-year career with Wausa Motor Service, where he drove a livestock truck. He then worked the next 13 years with the Knox County Maintenance Shop before retiring to spend more time with his family.

Dale enjoyed raising a large garden and sharing it with friends, neighbors and family. He was also a member of the Wausa Fire Department for many years.

Dale is survived by his wife, Bonnie, Wausa; children, Theresa “Terri” (Mark) Homan, Creighton; Don (Jeanne) Rosen, Creighton; and Donna (Tim) Gragert, Creighton; nine grandchildren, Heather (Shawn) Mosley, Lincoln; Tanner (Kynsie) Homan, Milton, Fla.; Haley Homan, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Brent (Andrea) Eggerling, Creighton; Megan (Ross) Becklun, Brunswick; Jessica Gragert, Creighton; Nicholas (Jammie) Bloomquist, Wausa; Michael Bloomquist, Wausa; and Jared Hornback, Bloomfield; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle “Shelley”; great-grandson, Hunter Mosley; and brother-in-law, Robert Swanson.
