Casey wins gold at Wakefield

WAKEFIELD — The Quad County Northeast Blaze wrestling team earned a fourth-place finish at Saturday’s Wakefield Trojan Wrestling Invite.

The Blaze wrestlers walked away from the meet with six individual medals, as well.

Kolby Casey led the way, putting together an undefeated day to earn gold in the 195-pound division.

The Blaze also picked up a pair of silver medals.

Gavin Wortman earned second-place honors in the 132-pound weight class, while Ajay Gubbels took second at 170 pounds.

LCC heavyweight Fischer Carson

LCC heed the davyweight Fischer Carson finishay in third place.

Local wrestlers also brought home a pair of fourth place medals. Both Gabe Wortman and Andrew Sohler finished in fourth at the meet.

The District wrestling meet begins Friday at Centennial High School.
