LCC FFA members qualify for State

LAUREL— Laurel-Concord-Coleridge FFA is sending senior and junior teams to State Livestock Judging.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge’s FFA chapter competed in District Livestock Judging at Northeast Community College Jan. 27.

The senior team was represented by Samantha Pehrson, Sarah Karnes, Aaron Bloom, Miles Forsberg, Jayden Pick, Grant Erwin, Madalynn Graham and Berniece McCorkindale.

The junior team was represented by Yasmine Miranda, Faith Urwiler, Lilly Pehrson, Carter Korth, Conner Korth, Jayden Campbell, Tanner Hansen and Julia Johnson.

The 16 individuals judged eight classes of livestock: breeding does, market hogs, breeding gilts, cull/keep gilts, cull/keep heifers, breeding heifers, market steers and breeding ewes.

After placing each class, the students then gave either oral reasons or answered questions about the livestock.

At the end of the day, the senior team placed first.

The top four individuals of each team will represent at State.

Those going include Samantha Pehrson who placed first, Sarah Karnes, second, Madalynn Graham fourth and Grant Erwin 15th.

The junior team also received first in their division. This includes Lilly Pehrson, first; Carter Korth, 10th; Connor Korth, 15th; Tanner Hansen, 63rd; and Jayden Campbell, 77th.
