Hawks fall to 0-2 with Friday loss

After the game on Thursday, Dec. 8, against Ponca was postponed because of the weather, the Osmond-Randolph Hawks boys’ team travelled to Wynot on Friday, Dec. 9, to take on the Wynot Blue Devils, and were handed their second loss of the season.

The Hawks broke the full court pressure beautifully in the first three

possessions of the game, but were unable to capitalize those opportunities into points early on.

Meanwhile, Wynot jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead and led 25-6 after the first quarter.

Osmond-Randolph was able to stop the bleeding momentarily, and went into halftime trailing 41-19. Wynot would ultimately cruise to an 80-47 win over Osmond-Randolph.

Turnovers were an issue yet again for the Hawks, as they gave the ball up to Wynot 17 times, while also allowing 13 offensive rebounds to the lanky and energetic Blue Devils.

Leading the scoring effort for the Hawks was Trevin Larson, who fin ished with 14 points and also dished out three assists. Next came Brayden Shearer, who scored 7 points and shot 5/6 from the charity stripe.

The trio of Xander Brown, Owen Severson and freshman Luke Harder all scored 6 points, while Hunter Buchanan scored 5. Caden Wingert knocked down a three-pointer to round out the scoring. Brown led the team in rebounds with 7, and Jake Harder pulled down three rebounds.

The boys’ team was back in action this week as they traveled to Creighton on Tuesday to take on the 3-1 Bulldogs, and will play the Bloomfield Bees at home in Osmond on Thursday, Dec. 15.
