Christmas Wishes program includes tributes, surprises

OSMOND — This year s annual Christmas Wishes program, held Sunday, Dec. 9, was one of the biggest yet. Bob Stange of Tiger Tavern, who catered the event, said some 210 people were served on Sunday.

The evening began with the presentation of The Colors by event hosts Sons of the American Legion (SAL) Squadron 326, followed by a welcome by Ron Stech, past commander of the Sons of the American Legion. The organization’s chaplain, Larry Krohn, offered prayer before the meal of Swiss steak, cheesy hash browns, beans, roll and cheesecake.

Korean War Vets Honored

As those in attendance enjoyed their meal, a video about the history of the Korean War was presented by Jeff and Cash Luhr. One of the surprises of the evening was when Stephanie Stueckrath and Terri Stech, representing Country View Quilting and the Quilts of Valor Foundation, presented patriotic quilts to local Korean War veterans.
