Sonja Lee Carlson Frevert was born to Esther and Knute Carlson Feb. 13, 1937, in a farmhouse four and one half miles southwest of Wausa. After graduating from Wausa High School, Sonja attended Luther College of Wahoo and received her teaching certificate. She taught prior to her marriage to Conrad Frevert, June 8, 1957, and then three years after. She was a devoted and dedicated farm wife, while raising two sons. Sonja stayed on the same farm that she loved until the last few weeks of her life.

Sonja was an amazing farm partner with Conrad, and they created a wonderful life together. She was very hardworking and led a humble life. Her daily life always centered on helping on the farm and making delicious meals and desserts, while always trying new recipes for her family. Family and family values were important to Sonja, and she wanted to make sure that everyone was happy.

Sonja loved to visit with people. In her later years, she was not able to get out much, but she was never lost for words and loved to talk on the phone. While her body was slowly failing, her mind was still sharp, and she fought harder than anyone we know to continue to live her life. She was loved by many people and will certainly be missed by her many friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine; and her brother, Gerald.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Conrad Frevert; two sons, Darwin and Daryl; daughter-in-law, Patty; two grandsons, Travis (Amanda) and Tyler (Chloe); two great-granddaughters, Kaylee and Kendall Frevert; and her only surviving sister, Virginia Johnson.
