Ronald E. Johnson

WAUSA — Funeral services for Ronald E. Johnson, 89, Wausa, were July 31 at Thabor Lutheran Church in Wausa. Reverend Carl Sirotzki officiated, with burial in Thabor Lutheran Cemetery, Wausa. Military Honors were provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5824. Visitation was Tuesday at the church. Brockhaus Funeral Home, Wausa, was in charge of arrangements. Ronald died July 28, 2018, at Premier Estates, Pierce. Ronald E. Johnson, son of Carl “Ray” Raymond and Eunice Johnson, was born March 3, 1929, at Pierce County. He attended his freshman year of school at Osmond and graduated from McLean High School in 1946. He served in the United Sates Marine Corp from 1951-1953 and was stationed at Opkalaka, Miami, Fla. Ronald married Betty Jane Newquist Jan. 25, 1951, at Thabor Lutheran Church, Wausa. They were blessed with three daughters, Jolene, Brenda and Sarah. Ronald was a farmer and he lived on farms near Osmond, McLean, Magnet and Wausa. He was a life-long member of Thabor Lutheran Church. Ronald was also a member of the American Legion and Cornhusker Toy Club. He enjoyed collecting, repairing, and restoring old farm toys for himself and others. Ronald is survived by his daughters, Jolene Pike, Beatrice; Brenda Johnson, Hadar; and Sarah (Jeremy) Carter, Lincoln; three grandchildren, Anna Pike, Jason Pike and Dalton Carter; sister, Florence Barbour, Villa Park City, Calif.; sister-in-law, Norda Johnson, Tilden; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Eunice; wife, Betty Jane; sister, Janice (Ed) Meyer; brother, Carl Johnson, Jr.; and son-in-law, Edward Pike.Gering, with Abby and their beloved dog, Maizy. He won his last team-roping event on Feb. 10 in Loveland, Colo. He certainly was a champion in all-aspects of his life.
