WAUSA – Dale Albrecht, 92, Wausa, died Feb. 3, 2024, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D. Memorial services for Dale will be held at 10:30 a.m., Feb. 7, at Thabor Lutheran Church, Wausa. The Rev. Judy Carlson will officiate, with burial in Magnet Cemetery at a later date. Brockhaus Funeral Home, Wausa, is in charge of arrangements. Dale Arthur Albrecht, son of Arthur and Wilma (Beckman) Albrecht, was born May 3, 1931, at home near Randolph. He grew up breaking horses and helping his parents farm and milk in the Randolph, Coleridge and Hartington area. He attended Pearl Creek Country School. Dale married Mary Ann Georgia Anderson June 11, 1949, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartington. They were happily married for 66 years and had 11 children, Daniel, Randy, Gayle, Patricia, Robert, Cindy, Tim, Scot, Chris, Vern and Ruth.

Dale and Mary Ann farmed and lived in the Randolph, Wausa, Pleasant Valley and Magnet area. They raised sheep, hogs, milk cows and calves, horses, chickens and rabbits.

Dale was in the grinding business with Bill Kirby, worked for Dawson Oil in Osmond, operated Claussen Elevator, sold Nutrena Feeds, was in the grinding business with Jess Dennis, sold Supersweet Feeds, was a parts man and did custom combining and plowing for Ford Garage in Wausa, worked for Farmers Union in Wausa for 22 years, had three balers for family- operated custom baling, loading and stacking, tended bar in Wausa, was a Wausa night watchman, worked for Carlson Home & Auto and, later, the Pig Co-op until retirement.

Dale felt at home his last years at Countryside Villa Assisted Living in Wausa. Dale and his family appreciate the love and care received from the Countryside Villa staff.

Dale had a strong work ethic, loved music and played the accordion and harmonica. He will be remembered for his hearty, infectious laugh. He loved people. Dale was very genuine, gentle, fun, caring and gracious.

Dale was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and uncle. He was a member of the Magnet Fire Department, the Masons, the Shriners, and a longtime member of the United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; parents; sons, Robert and Tim; son-in-law, Mike Walden; brothers, Kenneth (Liz), Gerald and Arthur Dean (Mary Rae); sister, Elaine Meier (Harold); sisters-in-law, Virginia Vise (Bob), Gloria Anderson and Betty Schumacher; brother-in-law, Vern Anderson; grandson, Richard Braunesreither; and great-granddaughters, Therese Scully and Hope Albrecht.

Dale is survived by his children, Daniel (Genny), Randy (Jeanne), Gayle, Pat (DuWayne McCormack) Braunesreither, Cindy Walden, Scot (Lori), Chris (Miriam), Vern (Robin) and Ruth (John) Bloomquist; daughterin- law, Denise Albrecht (Tim); grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Gerald Schumacher.
