ESSEX, Iowa — Alva Paul Riley, 85, Essex, Iowa, formerly Wausa, passed away on Oct. 30, 2022, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha.

Paul was born Aug. 5, 1937, at home in Corning, Mo. He lived and raised his family in Wausa and owned the Riley Mobil Station. He was a school bus driver and custodian for the Wausa Public School for many years and volunteered on the Wausa Fire Department.

He will be missed by his family: wife, Helen Riley, Essex, Iowa; their children, Karol Siekman, Malvern, Iowa; Nancy Laska, Norfolk; Curtis Riley (Karen), Essex, Iowa; Paula Vandusen, Essex, Iowa; and Sara Sullender, St. Joseph, Mo.; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
