City votes to amend truck route through town

RANDOLPH — The Randolph City Council amended the truck route through town at its meeting last week.

The new truck route has three points of exit and entry off Highway 20 and impacts Main, Bridge, Nebraska, Broadway and Cedar streets as well as Sholes Road.

The truck route has been an issue here for a while.

“It’s always been a problem but the flood plain project was the catalyst to facilitate this change,” said Randolph City Administrator Ben Benton.

Truck parking is no longer available near the Randolph Area Veterans Memorial Park due to the flood plain work.

The city is updating signs to indicate the truck route as well as areas for local deliveries only.

Benton said he plans to educate local businesses on the new truck route so they can inform suppliers.

The new truck route is in effect and violators are subject to citation.
