Babl earns medal at State Track Meet

OMAHA — Cody Babl made the most of his first appearance at State and came home with a medal as a result of his efforts.

The senior high jumper placed third in the Class C boys division at the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships, finding the medal stand with his best effort of 6 feet to account for LCC’s only medal in the two-day event.

“Cody has worked hard all season and really wanted to finish his career down in Omaha,” coach Shannon Benson said. “This was the first time for Cody to make it to Omaha, and after only being out for track and field two years was able to place sixth at State. He takes a lot of pride in his work and had a great season placing high in every track meet he was in this season. It was a great way to cap off the season and a career.”

The Bears and Lady Bears had four other athletes competing in five events during the season-ending meet.
