Wausa Jr. High boys place fifth in tournament

CROFTON — The Wausa Jr High Boys still had energy to “ham it up” following a 37-17 win over the Crofton 8th Team. The group, under the leadership of Reid Friedrich, participated in a Crofton Junior High Boys Basketball tournament Jan. 20. Although the Vikes gave up a lot of size, their defense caused Crofton to turn the ball over several times. The Wausa team opened play against the Junior Eagles of Norfolk, losing 30-23. Game 2 had the Wausa group facing a Crofton seventh grade team, winning 38-19, to advance and face the Crofton eighth grade squad.  The event also included two Yankton teams and Wynot. Jaxon Claussen and Addison Smith paced the Vikings offensively over the three games. While on the court the unofficial scorer believes all eight Wausa players got their name in the scoring column.
