Vikings baseball, softball teams play in league tournaments

WAUSA — Monday night, June 17, started off the week with the 13/14 baseball tournament championship game. The Randolph Cardinals and the Wausa Vikings are the only two teams in our league that have a 13/14 baseball team, so it was decided to play a game during the week for the championship game.

Jarrett Anderson started off the night pitching for the Vikings. The Cardinals were able to get 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning. The Vikings answered in the bottom of the 1st inning with 3 runs also. Tug Dawson got an infield home run on over throws. Josh Wattier was on base and made it home also. Jarrett got a strikeout in the 2nd inning before Jake Munter came in as pitcher. Before the top of the inning was over Tucker Wright came in to pitch and earned a strikeout. Jarrett Anderson hit a triple bringing home Tucker Wright and Jake Munter. Colton Baue hit a double bringing Jarrett home. The Vikings were down going into the 4th inning 10 to 6. The Vikings held the Cardinals in the 4th inning. Tucker hit a double and was able to get home to earn 1 more run. During the 5th inning though the Vikings allowed the Cardinals 1 run but could not get their bats going in the bottom of the 5th and lost 7 to 11. Giving the Vikings 2nd place in the tournament.
