Raiders’ big first quarter sinks Vikings

GAYVILLE, SD - Wausa boys’ basketball traveled north and across the Missouri River to take on Gayville-Volin last Tuesday night, but a fourth quarter push by the hometown team sent the Vikings home with a 56-52 loss.

Wausa led Gayville-Volin in each of the first three quarters, and went into the fourth with a 41-27 lead. The South Dakota team outscored Wausa 28-11 in the final quarter though to snatch the victory out of the Vikings hands.

Drew Munter led the way with 23 points for Wausa, going 10-19 from the floor. Two other Vikings players joined Munter in the doubledigits, with Ghatlin Hegge putting up 14 points, 5-7 from the floor, and Tyson Kaiser scoring 10 points despite going 2-12 from the floor.
