School enrichment program has started in Wausa
WAUSA – School enrichment has started in Knox County, including Wausa.
Krissy Kumm, 4-H youth development assistant with Nebraska Extension in Knox County, delivered a program called “Where Does Your Food Come From?” to Wausa Elementary’s second-grade class on Sept. 12 and 13.
This program included two separate lessons, one over dairy products and another over corn.
The first lesson was called “Extra Cheese Please,” during which youth learned where one of their favorite foods comes from – cheese. They also learned about dairy cattle and other agriculture-related products that come from the farm.
The second lesson was called “Corn, The Veggie That Is Everywhere.” This lesson taught youth the history of corn, the different types of corn and byproducts that are derived from corn.
