Regular season for baseball, softball comes to an end

WAUSA — The final week of regular season play for baseball and softball happened this past week. It is sad to see the season end, but exciting to see the growth in all the teams since the first game.

The 7/8 and 9/10 baseball teams traveled to Bloomfield July 1.

The 7/8 baseball team had just come off a weekend filled with games. The boys were able to get their bats going early in the game. Dawson Kraft, Ben Barta, Levi Suhr, Nole Anderson, Jacob Schindler, Noel Kumm, Crue Claussen, Rudd Carlson and Trace Wakeley were all able to hit singles in the first inning. All these batters were able to get five runs home before the five-run rule took effect.

The Vikings defense allowed three runs in the bottom of the first inning. All three outs were earned by Ashton Baue as pitcher, throwing the grounders he caught to first basemen Crue Claussen.
