Leader is top speller in Knox County Spelling Bee

CENTER — The 2018 Knox County Spelling Bee was held at the Courthouse Feb. 14, with three age divisions competing.

The contest is sponsored and organized annually by Knox County Clerk Joann Fischer and the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary women educator’s society in Knox County. Knox County Spelling Bee 2018 Results for fifth grade: first place from St. Ludger Elementary School, Brooke Fanta, parents Brian and Jara Fanta; second place from Nebraska Unified District #1-Verdigre School, Chelsey Rohrer, parents Kristi Rohrer and Chris Rohrer; third place from Creighton Public School, Greyson Rowe, parent Dale Rowe; fourth place from Crofton Community School, Grant Schieffer, parents Bradley and Sheila Schieffer; fifth place from Bloomfield Public School, Blake Hochstein, parents Jeff Hochstein and Jen Coffey; sixth place from St. Rose of Lima Elementary School, Jack Schieffer, parents Duane and Ginger Schieffer, seventh place from Santee Public School, Dakota Denny, parent Andrea Sutta; eighth place from Niobrara Public School, Isabella Wright, parents Allison and Shannon Wright; and ninth place from Wausa Public School, Landon McIntosh, parent Mirando Deyo
