Civics classs theme is Coats, Critters, and Kindness

Wausa —  Each year Mrs. Lynn Bloomquist’s Middle School Civics’ class chooses, plans and executes a Civics Engagement Project. They also give it a theme. This year the seventh grade class chose to do a project in giving to shelters.

This project is always tied into a field trip. Bloomquist takes the students to Lincoln in the spring to reinforce the learning that takes place in her classes.

This year’s project was held from Dec. 3-11. It included donating coats and animal toys/collars. The coats were collected through donations at school and through Wausa’s local churches. The class will be giving the coats to the Norfolk Shelter, the Lincoln City Shelter and through our local Wausa churches and school. They will give all the animal toys/collars to the Capital Humane Society in Lincoln.
