Wausa elementary school students have set reading goals with their teachers based on their personal reading skills. After setting the goal, students then read books from their Zone of Proximate Development. Reading within their zone provides students reading support but is challenging enough to encourage growth, said elementary school Principal Tish Hennings. Once a student has completed a book from their zone, the student then takes an online quiz based on that specific book. Students are able to earn a punch on their AR punchcard when they have successfully completed the reading and comprehension quiz over their book.
