Knox County is hit hard by flooding

WAUSA — Flood waters raced through WausalastWednesday, flooding Gladstone Park and many area farms.

The flood started when over two inches of rain fell on the frozen ground, which was still covered by 10-12 inches of snow. The melting snow had no place to go as the ditches were also snow-packed.

Many of the roads going out of Wausa were completely covered. Due to water over the roads there were people who couldn’t return to their homes Wednesday evening. Several rural residents were also trapped in their homes because roads around them were covered by the flood waters.

Because of the flooding, school was dismissed at 11:30 a.m. last Wednesday and cancelled all together on Thursday and Friday.
