The future of Wausa’s nursing home is up in the air ’ The motion to transfer

WAUSA — Wausa’s nursing home may be forced to close.

Wausa’s facility was one of 28 Nebraska nursing homes that were forced into receivership last March after the state stepped in when the New Jersey firm that owned the facility was unable to pay its bills.

The Hartington Care and Rehab facility was also forced into receivership when Cottonwood Healthcare LLC, known as Skyline, failed to pay its bills. Skyline purchased the local facility in 2016.

As of now only two of the 28 facilities are in danger of closing. Legal action has begun to close the Wausa facility and a nursing home in Sydney.
