Contractor for school project should be hired this week

WAUSA — A big step will be taken with the Wausa school construction and renovation project on Thursday, as Wausa School Supt. Brad Hoesing heads to Omaha to finalize contracts.

Last September, 75 percent of the Wausa School District voters casting ballots in the special election gave their nod of approval to the new building that is projected to cost about $4.35 million when complete. Voters approved a 20-year bond of no more than $3 million for the project.

The project will replace the 1913 school building and will address numerous issues in the Wausa building, along with building a new Ag and Industrial Arts building.
