Library closes the book on 2022 summer reading program

WAUSA – The Lied Lincoln Township Library in Wausa recently waved goodbye to its 2022 summer reading program.

The library finished the final week of its summer reading program – which had the theme of “Oceans of Possibilities” – with a celebration on July 22.

The event included a virtual reality truck, a bounce house and awards for children who had the most reading minutes during the summer reading program.

For the kids in third-eighth grades, Kora Rohrer read 6,089 minutes to finish first, followed by Kyson Doerr with 4,194 minutes and a tie between Isabelle and Brooks Seagren – sister and brother – with 4,155 minutes.

For the children in kindergarten-second grades, Aspen Eifert placed first with 4,295 minutes, followed by Brady Clausen with 1,955 minutes, Karalyn Rohrer with 1,375 minutes and Eli Burns with 1,028 minutes.

For the preschool kids, Aurora Eifert took the top spot with 2,139 minutes, followed by Aggie Wynia with 1,190 minutes, Keegan Burns with 1,023 minutes and Kade Doerr with 925 minutes.

Collectively, the children read 42,767 minutes – about 713 hours – during this year’s summer reading program, 11,868 more minutes than the 30,899 minutes the kids read during the 2021 program.
