Wausa baseball teams compete in end-of-the-season tny.

WAUSA — Another weekend that ended play for the 11/12 Pee-Wee and 13/14 Pony teams as they traveled to Neligh for the end of season tournament.

The 11/12 PeeWee team had their 1st game on Monday and would fall to Randolph. Their next game was on Thursday night against Elgin and would be victorious in that game. Unfortunately, they would lose on Saturday morning to Plainview to end their season.

The 13/14 Ponies would start their tournament run on Tuesday night against Creighton. Colton Baue and Jake Munter would pitch that night. The rain was coming down quite hard during their game and the field was slick. The game ball would have to be dried after every batter, but the Vikings played on in the rain. They would fall to Creighton that night. Their next game was Saturday morning as they took on Randolph. The Vikings would fight hard but would lose the battle and end their season. Jake Munter started the day pitching and would earn 5 strikeouts before his pitch count was reached. Colton Baue would go in and earn a strikeout. Jake, Cade Wakeley and Max Bruce would get a runner out as he tried to steal but got caught in a pickle. Vinnie Vanness, Max, and Kelly Vanness, Cody Gansebom would help in collecting outs. The hits were not in favor of the Vikings as it seemed like all the good hits into outfield would go directly to one of Randolph’s outfielders. Jake would be able to score a run as he hit a home run. Max would hit a double while Brent Kristensen, Brady Kristensen, and Kelly would get walked. The Vikings just could not bring the runs home.

The 16/18 Lady Vikings travel to Hastings this weekend for their final games of the season at Class D State Softball. Their first game is Friday night at 8:15p.m., against the Oakland Rockets.
