Wausa athletes pick up post-season honors

WAUSA — Several Wausa athletes were recognized when the Lewis & Clark Conference named its top players.

Wausa senior Esther Nelson and junior Morgan Kleinschmidt were both named to the Lewis and Clark West Division All Conference First Team list.

Nelson finished her career with 6.1 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 1.4 spg while Kleinschmidt averaged 10.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.9 apg and 1.9 spg for the Lady Vikings. 

State champion Wynot had the most honorees with eight. 

Wausa’s Jaxon Claussen also earned the attention of conference coaches. In his first season of varsity basketball, the Wausa freshman wrapped up his varsity season with averages of 13.3 ppg, 2.0 apg, 1.8 rpg and 2.2 spg. 

The State champion Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys basketball team had the most honorees with four.
