Viking athletes earn spots on Lewis and Clark honor teams

WAUSA — Several Wausa basketball players have earned post-season honors from the Lewis and Clark Conference coaches.

The Lady Vikes’ Morgan Kleinschmit was named to the Clark Division First Team All Conference Team. Brooke Kumm earned a spot on the Clark Division Honorable Mention Team.

Jaxson Claussen also earned First Team honors, while Cory Schumacher was named to the Honorable Mention squad.

Other area athletes making the First Team honor squad included Osmond’s Grayson Schultze and Ryan Schmit. Wynot senior Anthony Haberman, Randolph senior Justin Haselhorst, and Wynot junior Charlie Schroeder also made the First Team. Wynot’s Garrett Lange and Peyton Wieseler,

Wynot’s Garrett Lange and Peyton Wieseler, Randolph’s Collyn Beal and Osmond’s Zach Huwaldt all earned honorable mention.

“Anthony is a very hard worker and loves to compete,” Wynot head coach Lee Heimes said. “He has an ability to get to the basket and score. He is a leader and wants to do his best. Charlie is a very smart basketball player. He is a tremendous rebounder and a very good shot blocker. He is a player who does a lot of things really well.

Haselhorst was the Cardinals do-everything player as one of the area’s top scorers.

“Justin was our point guard this year, so he was asked to handle the ball the majority of the time,” Randolph coach Jim Hixson said. “He not only was asked to handle the ball he was also our leading scorer as well as one of our better defenders. His leadership will be missed.

Lewis Division recognition went to Hartington-Newcastle junior Jake Pietz and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge seniors Evan Haisch and Cael Hartung

Honorable mention went to Hartington-Newcastle’s Kobe Heitman.

“Jake had a strong junior year, it was a nice honor for him to be recognized and rewarded for the work he’s put into his game,” HNHS head coach Nick Haselhorst said. “Jake is a tough matchup defensively with his abilities to play in the post and out on the perimeter like a guard.”

The Wynot girls were spearheaded on the Clark first team by juniors Karley Heimes and Kendra Pinkelman.

On the Lewis side of the aisle, LCC’s Kinsey Hall made the first team while teammate Haley Christensen garnered an honorable mention bid. Hartington-Newcastle’s Kayden Jueden was
