The Osmond Tigers played against Wynot and Creighton in recent games: Wynot on Dec. 13 and Creighton on Dec. 14.

Wynot 63, Osmond 45

After having to postpone their original meeting the Friday before, the Wynot Blue Devils traveled south to set up set up another Lewis and Clark conference match-up on Monday, Dec. 13. Playing on their home court after traveling and playing Plainview two days prior, the Tigers were looking to bounce back quick and get a victory.

As in typical Wynot basketball fashion, they were looking to be aggressive early and often on both ends of the court. Using their length to their advantage, they forced Osmond into some turnovers and tough shots in the first quarter which resulted in an 18-8 advantage in favor of the Blue Devils.

The Tigers, however, started to take better care of the ball in the second quarter and started to score more as well. Scoring 11 points in the second quarter set Osmond up with a 19-33 deficit heading into the half.

Coming out the locker room at the half, the Tigers were looking for a spark and put some of their adjustments to use out on the court. This proved to be true as the boys in white and orange shared the ball on offense and played solid defense which led to Osmond winning the third quarter, 13-11.

With the Tigers still in the game heading into the last frame, Wynot wanted to leave no doubt of a win, pushing the lead and eventually securing the win. Wynot handed the Tigers a loss with the score of 63-45.

Top performer for Osmond was Stevin Hasler scoring 16 points, with Ryan Schmit close behind at 15 points, and Xander Brown snagging nine boards on the night. The Tigers moved to 1-4 on the season.

Osmond 52, Creighton 47

Playing their third game in four days, the Osmond boys found themselves back on the hardwood again Tuesday, Dec. 14, against another familiar foe. The Bulldogs of Creighton made their way over to play Osmond in a battle of two teams searching for a win.

The first quarter saw each team trying to take an early lead, but instead was a back-and-forth affair. Creighton held the slight edge heading into the second period with a score of 14-13. However, the Tigers found some momentum in the second quarter as they pushed lead as high as 11 in the quarter and finished the quarter with a 33-25 advantage.

However, the Bulldogs came out in the third quarter looking to cut back into the lead and not go down without a fight. After some hot shooting out of Creighton, and missed shots by Osmond, the score was once again close, 40-37 in favor of the home team.

Building off some of their momentum they acquired in the third quarter, the Bulldogs used the long ball to take the lead halfway through the fourth, but Osmond was ready to fight back.

Thanks to some late baskets and free throws by their veteran players, the Tigers were able to fend off the scrappy Bulldogs and secure a 52-47 victory.

Some of the top scorers for the Tigers was Ryan Schmit (20), Bryan Solorzano (12), and Caden Wingert (6). Also contributing to the victory and pulling down some rebounds was Stevin Haslet (10), Xander Brown (6), and Zach Reikofski (4). The Tiger moved to 2-4 on the season.
