Tiger defense gives offense opportunity to explode

OSMOND — On Friday night, Sept. 25, the Osmond Tigers took on the Randolph Cardinals. As expected, it was a tight ballgame after 1 quarter. It was 8-8 after one quarter. 

Patrick Vinson led the Tiger offense with throwing for 10-15 for 212 yards and completing three touchdown passes. Patrick also was second leading rusher behind Bryan Solorzano with 51 rushing yards. 

Meanwhile the Tiger running game was spearheaded by Bryan Solorzano, Connor Gutz and Alex Vinson. All accounted for 200 yards on the ground. 

The Tigers stayed aggressive in the second quarter and scored 16 points in the final 45 seconds of the second quarter. At the break, the Tigers led 30 to 6.

The second half consisted of the Tiger defense coming together and forcing seven turnovers through the game. Ryan Schmit and Patrick Vinson each had one interception and Zach Reikofski, Brenden Gillespie, Patrick Vinson and Bryan Solorzano each recovered a fumble.

The Tiger offense was still turning the wheels throughout the second half and scored 20 points in the fourth quarter. Ryan Schmit posted a big game in receiving, going four for 160 yards for two TDs. The final score of the game was 58-20.

The Tigers are back in action at Wausa on Friday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m.
