Three Lady Tigers receive conference basketball honors

OSMOND — Three Osmond Lady Tigers have been selected for Lewis & Clark Conference honors.

Kiera Moes , a 5-ft.,7-in. junior, was named as a first team Clark Division player. Receiving honorable mention were juniors Grace Gansebom, 5 ft., 6 in., and Macy Aschoff, 5 ft., 9 in.

Coach David Schmit had this to say about the selections:

“Kiera Moes was selected to the all-conference team for our division and also was the fourth overall vote getter. Throughout the season, Kiera led us in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game and pulled down 6.6 rebounds a game. She was a player who many teams had to account for on both ends of the floor and that’s a testament to her hard work that she puts in each season and during the off season. She consistently showed a willingness to improve in practices herself but also to make her teammates better as well. She’s very deserving of this honor.

“Grace Gansebom was selected to the conference honorable mention team. Grace really had a spectacular junior season, averaging 9.6 points a game while pulling down 5.3 rebounds. While equally as deserving of all-conference recognition, Grace really had a breakout year for us. She became a reliable scoring threat along with being a tenacious defender. She often drew one of the opposition’s best players and met the challenge successfully. Most of all, her toughness is something that really makes her a special player - no more evident than losing a tooth during our Wausa game in subdistricts and returning to the game a short time later to spark a late game run to help win the game. She’s a great kid on and off the court, very coachable, and willing to do whatever it takes to make her teammates better and help win games.

“Macy Aschoff also received conference honorable mention honors this year. Macy averaged 6.5 points per game and 6 rebounds per game this year. With changing to a four guard offense, Macy’s job in the post became tougher this year. As typical, Macy accepted the challenge and played her role very well. She often was matched up against some tough post players for the opposition and battled hard. I feel I can say the same about Macy as all of our girls - they’re tougher than nails and will fight until the buzzer. Macy gave us a ton of effort this year and I’m proud of her for her hard work and being recognized for that.

“Overall, it was great for these three to be recognized for their hard work on the court and being great teammates to each other and the rest of our team. They will be counted on for a lot going into next season.”
