There’s no baseball, softball in Wausa this summer

WAUSA — Sad news to report. The Wausa Summer League committee has chosen to cancel our youth baseball/softball season for this summer. After speaking to attorneys and medical professionals, the best decision we can come up with as coaches and a committee is not to have a season.

There is too much liability falling on the coaches and our committee to follow guidelines and potentially bringing virus into Wausa from other towns coming in to play on our field or vice versa with traveling to other towns. Even if we have permission and a waiver from all parents, there is still always a risk.

We also can’t charge to play this year and cannot have concessions. This means no income for our program to buy supplies, pay coaches, pay field maintenance and umps. This all would be too much of a hit to take on our program.

If guidelines loosen up, coaches might decide on putting some fun nights together for each age level. That will be discussed among the coaches.

Again, if anyone has any questions or concerns, please Shelbey West.

Please stay safe and have a healthy summer.
