RHS runners compete at Hartington meet

HARTINGTON — The Randolph cross country team traveled to Hartington Thursday for the first meet of the year in extremely hot temperatures.

Randolph was not able to earn a medal at the meet, but everyone ran well, Coach Tom Shafer said.

Hartington-Newcastle’s Carson Noecker earned medalist honors, completing the course in 16:31.77.

The varsity boys ran 3.1 miles with Gabe Wortman finishing in 34th place with a time of 24:21.

Justin Guenther was 38th with a time of 24:29,

Brayden Shearer was 57th with a time of 28:34, and Jake Harder finished right behind him in 58th with a time of 28:45.

Gage Jensen was the top junior high finisher for the Cardinals with a one-mile, 8:31 finish for eighth place.

Lucas Bartels was 15th with a time of 9:02, Luke Harder ended up 18th at 9:25 and Mason Blickenstaff was 19th, while finishing with a 9:31.

Dylan Schutt (10:42), Brayden Graham (10:49) and Gavin Wortman (10:51) also ran for the junior high squad.
