Randolph runners compete at Niobrara

NIOBRARA — The Randolph High School cross country team ran at Niobrara last week and all four varsity boys ended the day having shaved four minutes off their 3.1-mile times.

“It was a very challenging course from the previous week’s meet in Hartington,” Randolph head coach Tom Shafer said.

Gabe Wortman ran 21:07 for a team-best 29th-place run, Justin Guenther ran 21:25 to finish 30th, Brayden Shearer recorded a 23:29 for the 37th best time and Jake Harder ran 24 minutes to end up in 38th.

In the Junior High race - approximately a one-mile course - all the boys lowered their time by over a minute each, according to Shafer.

Gage Jensen brough home a medal for the Cardinals with a time of 5:55 and placed sixth and was followed by Lucas Bartels (6:11, 11th), Luke Harder (6:27, 13th), Dylan Schutt (6:46, 15th), Mason Blickenstaff (6:51, 16th), Brayden Graham (7:04, 18th) and Gavin Wortman (7:23, 21st).
