Randolph JV boys basketball team opens season with a packed schedule

RANDOLPH — The Randolph JV boys basketball team opened the 2019-20 season with three contests in 24 hours.

The Cardinals opened the season, taking on the visiting Osmond Tigers. The Tigers’ offense overwhelmed the locals by a score of 42-14.

Tristan Mosel led the way in scoring with six points on the night. Tom Korth had four points, and Cadein Villwok and Sam Korth each scored two.

Saturday morning saw the renewal of Randolph’s annual R-Club JV tournament. In the opening round, Randolph took on the LCC Bears. LCC came out of the blocks strong and were able to take a 32-2 halftime lead. Randolph could not mount a serious comeback and fell by a 7-39 margin.

Jacob Calder’s 3-pointer led the way for the Cards. Tristan Mosel and Sam Korth also chipped in two each.

Randolph played Creighton in the thirdplace contest. The Bulldogs got out to an 11-3 halftime lead and never looked back to take the victory by a 35-10 final score.

Leading scorers for the Cardinals in the third-place contest were Tom Korth with five, Isaiah Salmon and Tristan Mosel with two each, while Jacob Carlder rounded out the scoring with one point.

Members of this year’s JV squad are Juniors; Tyson Junck, Tristan Mosel, Cadein Villwok, and Sam Korth, Sophomores Tom Korth, Collyn Beal, and Jacob Caler, Freshmen; Isaiah Salmon, and Andy Hausmann.
