Randolph HS hosts 49th annual Randolph Invitational

RANDOLPH — As the spring track and field season continues forward, and thankfully without interruption, it looks like the 2021 campaign will go into the record books as completed.

The Randolph Cardinals are into their hopeful last two weekends, but a lot will depend on the district meet at Hartington Wednesday.

Head coach Ted Stubbs saw his team play host to the 49th annual Randolph Invitational as the final preparation for the penultimate weekend.

“We scored our highest team points of the year,” Stubbs said. “Again, senior Keely Pinkelman led the way with four individual medals. We had several girls step up to put together relays for girls to letter.

“We will need some outstanding performances to earn bids to state. Our district may be the toughest in the state.”

The Cardinals had plenty of performances to hang their hats on, as they were sparked by the dominant performance of Pinkelman (first, 100 meters, 13.13; second, 400 meters, 1:07.1; second, long jump, 14- 03; third, 200 meters, 27.8), while Bailey Beal (first, long jump, 14-11.75; sixth, 200 meters, 28.83), the 4x400 relay (third, 5:31.7), Natalie Munter (fourth, long jump, 12-08.5; fifth, triple jump, 29-05), Jacey Bartels (fourth, shot put, 27-08.5; sixth, discus, 82-06), Nicole Haselhorst (fifth, 100 hurdles, 18.84; fifth, 300 hurdles, 1:00.42), Erin Engel (fifth, shot put, 27-05), Ariel Fye (fifth, 1,600 meters, 6:52.9), the 4x100 relay (fifth, 58.96), the 4x800 relay (fifth, 13:51) and Ryanne Winkelbauer (sixth, 800 meters, 2:58.2) also contributed to the Lady Cardinals performance which resulted in a fourth place finish.

The boys took sixth overall and were led by Justin Haselhorst (second, 200 meters, 24.59; third, 100 meters, 11.65; third, triple jump, 36-11.5), the 4x100 relay (fourth, 50.38), Tom Korth (fourth, triple jump, 35-08), Alex Heiman (fifth, 300 hurdles, 49.82) and Justin Guenther (sixth, 3,200 meters, 13:34.65) who provided the scoring for the Cardinals.
