QCNE wrestling team features good depth this year

RANDOLPH — Seven returning wrestlers will lead the Quad County Northeast wrestling team this season.

Coach Mark Lech said the team will have a good mix of experience and youth that should help them be competitive this season.

“We have good numbers out this year and will be able to fill most weight brackets,” he said. “We return a lot of wrestlers and will bring multiple freshmen into the program. We have a good mix of youth and experience with a couple of strong senior leaders in Colby Wathor and Nolan Ohlrich.”

Ohlrich will lead the QCNE team at 152 pounds this season, while Wathor will wrestle at 182 pounds.

Other returning wrestlers are: juniors Gabe Wortman (132) and Fischer Carson (285) along with sophomores Carter Olson (120), Tie Hollandsworth (145) and Kolby Casey (195).

“We look forward to the chance to compete and to see where this program can go,” Lech said. “The enthusiasm around the program is strong and we want to build on that by having a successful season.”
