Osmond Tiger boys are D-3 District track champions; girls fifth

HARTINGTON — Osmond track and field teams had a very good day at the D-3 District track meet at the Hartington sports complex last Wednesday, May 12. Besides the boys winning the district title for the fifth time in a row, eight boys and three girls qualified in 12 events.

Starting in the field, Spencer Hille hit a 20-ft., 5.5-in. jump on his first attempt that held up through the competition. Pender’s Dylan Vogt had a 20-ft., .5-in. mark for second place. Bradee Gubbels took fifth place with a leap of 19 ft., .75 in.

At the same time, Grace Gansebom was on the other runway and, on her second jump of the finals, hit a nice 16-ft., 2-in. jump, which put her in third place. She would be an additional qualifier in the long jump. To qualify for state in individual events, you need to be first or second in the nine district field, then after all time and distance comparison, the next six best marks also qualify.

In the triple jump, Graysen Schultze stepped out to a 40 ft., 6 in. mark which was good for first place. Second went to Kristensen of Wausa and Bradee Gubbels was third at 38 ft., 7.5 in. Again on the other runway, Kiera Moes measured a 32 ft., 6.5 in. leap on her third jump in the prelims which held up for second place and a trip to Omaha.
