Osmond students participate in Quiz Bowl competition

NELIGH – The Osmond Community School quiz bowl teams traveled to Neligh on Feb. 22 and 23 to compete in both the ESU8 high school and middle school quiz bowl competitions.

The high school team competed on Feb. 22 with pool play. After starting out the day with a loss to O’Neill St. Marys and a win over Elgin, the team needed a win over Chambers to advance to tournament play. Unfortunately, they came up short as Chambers came away with a 35-25 win.

This ended the day for the high school team with a record of one win and two losses. Members of the team include Caden Wingert, Kaden Polt, Zach Reikofski, Bailey Schmit and Kiera Moes.

The middle school team competed on Feb. 23 and were able to win their pool with victories over Madison, Battle Creek St. Johns, and Norfolk Junior High. This allowed them to advance to the single elimination tournament where they faced off against Pierce Zion Lutheran and a hard fought 10-0 loss to end the competition with three wins and one loss and a top 10 finish. Members of the team are Korrine Moes, Kaleigh Miller, Erin Aschoff, Ava Reikofski, Jade Halsey and Addison Miller.

Principal Kurt Polt commented, “Congratulations to all of the quiz bowl members for doing a great job of representing the Osmond School.”
