Osmond High School Tigers host EPIC football camp

OSMOND — Osmond’s football players for the coming season participated in an EPIC football camp which Osmond hosted on Thursday, July 14. Other area schools were welcome to bring their teams to Osmond as well.

According to the company’s website, EPIC stands for Elite Performance In Competition. It is owned by Jeremy Epps and Scott Trimble.

According to Trimble, this is their ninth year of doing these camps, which specialize in commercial, full-contact high school football camps. They are designed to improve individual and team performance.

In addition to Epps and Trimble, guest coaches included Joe Cupper of Chappel, Mike Sander of Superior, and three coaches from Hastings College — Kyle Suttles, Jeff Merritt and Riley Homolka.

The football camp included player/coach meetings, individual development, team time, pool play and five competitions.

Awards are given for players of the day, team of the day, junior varsity team of the day, young gun of the day, skill players of the day, linemen of the day, tire flip champs and junior varsity tire flip champs.

The Osmond Tigers were the tire flip champions on Thursday.

Osmond’s football coaches host this camp each year to help prepare the players for the beginning of fall practice in August.

Osmond coaches are Wyatt Schuettler, Bradley Wright, Mike Slagle, and Rod Brummels.

The teams that participated on Thursday, in addition to Osmond, were Randolph, Riverside, Fullerton, Osceola, Tri-County Northeast (Allen and Emerson-Hubbard), Mead, Homer, North Central and Elkhorn Valley.
