OHS volleyball and girls’ basketball teams clean up Poolside Park

OSMOND — Three days a week, the Osmond volleyball and girls’ basketball teams meet to do an hour of conditioning. On Friday, June 12, they decided to give their hour of time to picking up sticks at the park.

“We did not get it all done; however, got a good start on the project,” said Coach Tiffany Rice. “This is one of the two large piles. The girls were very happy to do this and it promotes that being a good community member is important. Justin Orr and I are proud to be part of this team!!”

The Osmond volleyball coaches lead the conditioning, which consists of running, agilities, jumping rope, strength training and occasionally running an obstacle course that the coaches create for them doing tire flips, cement block lifts, etc.

“We try to do something different each day and make it as fun as possible,” Rice said. “The coaches also participate in the conditioning with the players as a visual that we don’t expect them to do anything that we, ourselves, wouldn’t do,” Coach Rice said. “We tend to run to the park and around town and will do workouts at the park and wanted to do our part in keeping our park beautiful. It’s important that the girls understand that the phrase ‘team’ doesn’t just mean sports, rather working together in all aspects, including in the community.”
