OHS Tigers run at Crofton cross country invitational

CROFTON — It was a beautiful early fall day at the Crofton Lakeview Golf Course site of the Crofton Cross Country Invitational. The South Sioux City and Norfolk Catholic teams overshadowed the team race, but Hartington-Newcastle’s sophomore, Carson Noecker, dominated the race course.

Noecker covered the 3.1 mile distance in an outstanding time of 15:32.48.  Second place was also a good time of 17:11.44 by South Sioux City’s Mesuidi Ejerso.

Top finisher for the fifth place Osmond Tigers was Johnson Chishiba, placing ninth in a time of 18:05.74, just 2 seconds behind Liess of Norfolk Catholic. Graysen Schultze missed a medal by a single place, finishing in 16th place in 18:42.01.  Graysen out-leaned Foecking of Norfolk Catholic, who had a time of 18:42.82 automatic timing.

A trio of Tigers came in 30th, 31st and 32nd place. Robert Aschoff led the group with a time of 20:28.58, Kaden Polt next at 20:40.65, followed by Bodie True clocked at 20:49.20, all pretty good times for this hilly course. Hudson Schultze placed 41st in 21:27.11.

Hunter Beacom finished 12th in the junior varsity division in a time of 22:22.89.

Girls’ Division

In the girls’ division, junior Riley Wagner missed a medal by two spots. She finished in 17th place in a time of 24:43.98. Hayle Krienert was the next Tiger to cross the line in 29th place in a time of 29:08.19, followed by Jozie Kumm in 33rd place in 30:55.16.

Junior High Portion

In the junior high portion of the meet, Keli Aschoff earned a medal, placing eighth, covering the 2,000 meters in 8:56.43.  For the boys, Andrew Bucklew finished in 20th place in a time of 8:09.21.

“I thought we ran pretty well on a tough course,” noted Coach Joe Ortmeier. “I also liked the way we competed with the bigger schools. We gave a good account of ourselves.”
