LCC students pick up post-season honors

LAUREL — Several LCC students recently earned honors following the conclusion of the fall sports and activities season.

The following students were named NSAA/NCPA Fall Academic All-State performers.

Boys Cross Country: Dillon Olson and Tyler Olson; Football: Grant Erwin, Deagan Puppe; Girls Golf: Sidney Groene, Sarah Karnes; One-Act: Maddy Graham, Sarah Karnes; volleyball: Cassandra Granquist and Kinsey Hall.

The following LCC football players were named All-State Honorable Mention by the Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star newspapers.

Evan Haisch, Sutton Ehlers, Deagan Puppe, Evan Schmitt, Daniel Puppe.

Haisch was also named to Huskerland Prep Report’s Class D1 First Team All State football team. It’s the second straight year Haisch has garnered First Team honors.

Huskerland Publisher Bob Jensen had high praise for Haisch.

“Let’s not kid ourselves, this isn’t about Evan’s kicking ability, it’s about his rough and tumble approach to the game, and his 1,600 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns, stuff like that,” he said.
