COLERIDGE — Seventeen young men played football for the 2020-21 Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Junior High team this fall.

Practice started Aug. 20 and the junior high had a five-game season.

After the first game was cancelled, the season kicked off with an away game at Stanton.

The Mustangs were very talented and had a lot of older leadership on the team.

It was a great game to start the season with and the Bulldogs did a lot of good things.

Being able to run well and also make some big plays on offense. Special teams played well and the defense worked hard for the entire game. In the end, the Stanton Mustangs were able to pull away and win by 12, 50-38.

After a second game that was cancelled, the Bulldogs took on Randolph and were able to get a great start to the game on offense and defense.

The Bulldogs controlled the line of scrimmage and were able to make a lot of big plays on offense and defense and really hold the Cardinals from getting any momentum of their own.

The Bulldogs were able to work on a lot of things after the first game.

A lot of players saw action and everyone was able to work on skills in game situations. Coaches were very proud of the team and how the players were able to get better and play well. The LCC Bulldogs earned the 68-0 win.

The third game of the season was a home game against Wakefield and again the Bulldogs were able to control a lot of the game.

The defense really stepped up when needed and made some big stops in the game.

The players were able to get a great start to the game causing some early turnovers and the offense was able to score points off of them quickly.

The offense really got the running game going and was able to get some big plays on the ground to take all hope away from Wakefield.

They are a young team with a lot of speed, but the Bulldogs were able to control them for a good 55-14 win.

The last home game of the season was a late add-on game to help make up for some of the cancelled games and this game was against the Tri-County Wolfpack, that consisted of Allen, Emerson and Hubbard.

The Wolfpack came into the game with an undefeated season and were a very talented team. They had a great group of eighth graders that ran the ball well and had a solid defense.

The Bulldogs played very well and the offense was able to be controlled with the running game.

The boys did a great job getting big plays from a lot of different players and made it very tough on the Wolfpack to focus on just one player. The boys did a great job of getting a couple big stops on defense.

These Wolfpack players had a really good running team and the Bulldogs knew they needed to stop them a couple times to get the momentum shifted to the home side. The boys made some great plays on defense and caused a turnover or two that really changed the game for the Bulldogs.

The boys played very well and seemed to get even better as the game went on to earn the 44-36 decision. This was a great win for the LCC Bulldogs against a really good team.
