LCC golfers open season with second-place finish

BEEMER — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls golf team got their season off to a fantastic start, bringing home the runner-up trophy from Friday’s West Point-Beemer Invitational.

Playing on the always-challenging Indian Hills Golf Club just south of Beemer, the Lady Bears came home with four individual medalists and shot a team score of 410, finishing three shots behind the host Lady Cadets in the team race.

Jadyn Kinkaid took home runner-up honors in the medalist chase, finishing the day with a 94. Sarah Karnes also finished in the top five, placing fourth with a 101.

Sidney Groene rounded out the top 10 with a 107 and Hope Swanson was one shot behind in 11th place with a 108 to account for LCC’s four individual medals. Delaney Hall rounded out the day for the Lady Bears with a 122.

The Lady Bears will play in the Wayne Invitational on Friday at Wayne Country Club.

Wayne, South Sioux City and Oakland-Craig did not field full teams.
