LCC golfers end regular season with two trophies

WAYNE — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls golf team is on a roll heading into the postseason.

The Lady Bears closed out their regular season with a runner-up finish at the Metteer Invitational in Wayne on Thursday, then came home and dominated their home course to win the LCC Invite on Saturday.

The Lady Bears finished five shots behind Battle Creek in Thursday’s meet at the Wayne Country Club and had three top 20 medalists in the meet.

Jadyn Kinkaid led the way for LCC with a 91, good for fourth place overall. Following her was Sarah Karnes placing ninth with a 96 and Sidney Groene finishing 19th with a 104. Hope Swanson shot 107 and Delaney Hall rounded out the Lady Bears day with a 118.

Saturday, LCC turned the tables on Battle Creek and beat them by 30 shots, led by Kinkaid’s runner-up finish of 87.

All five Lady Bears earned top 10 medals. Following Kinkaid was Karnes with a 93 for fourth, Groene placed fifth with a 98, Swanson was sixth with a 98 and Hall was seventh with a 98.

The Lady Bears will compete in the C-3 district golf meet on Monday in Battle Creek. The top three teams and top 10 individuals advance to state competition.
