LCC golfers end first day in 11th place at State

COLUMBUS — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears were tied for 11th place after the first day of the Class C State Girls Golf Championships Monday at the Elk’s Club.

The Lady Bears put together a first-day total of 415, led by Sarah Karnes’ first-day round of 96 that has her tied for 24th place among the 93 golfers competing.

Karnes had pars on the No. 8 and No. 11 holes to highlight her opening-day score to lead the Lady Bears. She shot 48 on the front nine and followed with another 48 on the back nine.

Following Karnes was Jadyn Kinkaid with a 103 (53-50), Sidney Groene with a 104 (52-52), Hope Swanson with a 112 (57-55) and Delaney Hall with a 115 (56-59).

Broken Bow leads the 15-team race with a 369 after the first day, followed by Lincoln Christian (386), Heartland (390), West Point-Beemer (396) and Lincoln Lutheran (398) to round out the top five.

The second day of competition was set to start Tuesday morning. Final results will be published in next week’s edition of The Laurel Advocate.
