LCC boys win Knox County title

CREIGHTON — The Laurel-Cocnord-Coleridge boys track team got the season off to a good start, winning three events and coming away with top honors at the Knox County Invitational.

Deagan Puppe had a hand in all three wins, taking top honors in both hurdle events and joining Lucas Rasmussen, Cael Hartung and Evan Haisch on the winning 400-meter relay team. He added a runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash to finish off his four-medal performance.

Daniel Puppe was a double medalist, taking second in the 110-meter hurdles and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles.

Dillon Olson and Shane Benson both had three medals on the day. Olson was third in the 1,600, fourth in the 3,200 and was on the third-place 3,200-meter relay, while Benson placed fifth in the high jump, fourth in the triple jump and was on the third-place 1,600-meter relay.

Other individual medalists included Markus Martin, Taner Stanley, Trace Naeve, Austin Hall and Cael Hartung.

In girls action, Berniece McCorkindale was the lone winner for the Lady Bears, taking top honors in the shot put. Teammate Reggan Kuhlman finished fourth.

Kinsey Hall earned four medals on the day, taking fifth in the 100 hurdles, sixth in the 300 hurdles, fourth in the long jump and running on the 400-meter relay that finished second.

Erica Wolfgram finished fifth in the high jump and fourth in the long jump while running on the 400-meter relay.

Other individual medalists for the LCC girls included Ella Hartung, Jordynn Urwiler, Mallory Eriksen and Chelsea Potts.
