LCC athletes ready to start the winter sports season

LAUREL — The winter sports season officially gets underway this week.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge athletes in wrestling, girls basketball and boys basketball will all have their seasonopening games in the next few days.

The LCC boys and girls basketball teams get the season started with three straight home contests.

The Bears host Creighton Thursday, Dec. 2, then host Crofton Dec. 3. On Tuesday, Dec. 7, Homer comes to town.

The Bears hit the road next weekend when they play against Tri County Northeast on Friday, Dec. 10 and at Randolph on Saturday, Dec. 11.

The Quad County Northeast wrestling team gets its season started Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Creighton Invitational.

The wrestlers will be in action the first three Saturdays of the month as they compete in Stanton Dec. 11 and then travel to Wisner-Pilger Dec. 18.

The local squad will be at home Thursday Dec. 16 when they host a quadrangular.

The newly NSAA sanctioned girls wrestling team sees its first action Dec. 17 at Elgin Pope John. The girls will be in action again Dec. 28 at Winnebago. On Jan. 6, the girls compete at Columbus and are at Battle Creek on Jan. 17 before closing out the regular season Feb. 4 at Summerland.
