The Lady Tigers team stats for this match were 79.5% serving percentage, 20 digs.

“Going forward we need to work on decreasing our overall team errors as these would have substantially changed the outcome of this match,” said Coach Tiffany Rice.

The evening started off with a “C” team game, in which the Lady Tigers defeated the Wildcats in two sets with scores of 25-16 and 25-19.

“This was the first true ‘C’ team game since Sept. 12, so it was very nice for these young ladies to hit the court,” said Coach Rice. “The girls played well coming off of a seven-day stretch of no practices because of COVID-19. In addition, these girls were asked to play in positions that some had never played before, and they adjusted and performed outstanding.”

The individual stats of this game are as follows: Anna Kahny – 4 digs, 1 kill; Annabelle Vinson – 11 digs, 1 assist; Callie Hoffman – 2 aces, 4 kills, 6 digs; Erica Heiman – 6 kills, 7 digs; Juliana Kumm – 3 kills, 7 digs; Mary Jane Herrera – 6 aces, 12 assists, 4 digs; Tessa Gardner – 1 ace, 5 kills, 2 digs.

The junior varsity game was a hard-fought game, but the Lady Tigers came up short and lost two sets to one with scores of 10-25, 25-22, 9-15.  The Lady Tigers struggled at the net with kills, and were held to a minimum of ace serves; however, the girls compensated and passed the ball very well.

The individual stats of this game are as follows: Anna Kahny: 4 digs; Callie Hoffman: 2 kills, 4 digs; Caydence Krienert: 1 kill, 1 assist, 7 digs; Erica Heiman: 1 ace, 1 kill, 11 digs; Leia Buchanan: 2 aces, 2 kills, 6 assists, 12 digs; Mary Jane Herrera – 2 digs; Reese Johns: 2 kills, 3 digs; Taylor Thompson: 2 kills, 1 assist, 1 dig.

Finishing off the evening, the varsity Lady Tigers took on the Lady Wildcats but fell short, losing in three sets with scores of 17-25, 12-25, 8-25.

“All teams experience nights where things do not fall into place and this was a night for the Lady Tigers,” Coach Rice said. “Some of the factors that contributed to this was a change in our roster, and coming off of just two practices after missing seven because of quarantine of our team. In addition, we were held to a minimum hitting percentage, only tallying two ace serves and 30 digs. We used this game as a learning experience in how to handle unexpected changes to our ‘norm.’ Moving forward, we will work on focusing on what we have versus what don’t have in hopes of being successful.”

Individual stats from this game are as follows: Macy Aschoff: 4 kills, 7 digs; Grace Gansebom: 2 kills, 11 assists, 8 digs; Kiera Moes: 7 kills, 1 assist; Cali Gutz: 1 ace, 2 kills, 1 assist, 3 digs; Lillie Gansebom: 1 ace, 4 digs; Taylor Thompson: 1 kill, 1 dig; Elisa Herrera: 3 assists, 7 digs.

“As a coach, I could not be more proud of the fight and determination that this group of girls gave during this entire game,” Rice said. “Going into the third set, it would have been easier to give up and take the loss; however, the Lady Tigers knew that they had what it took to defeat this team. The Lady Tigers never once let up and fought for every point that they earned.  Despite the loss, the Lady Tigers won in my book. The Lady Tigers tallied up some impressive stats, including 59 set assists and 110 digs.  In addition, the Lady Tigers had individuals who were ‘on their game’ and we were fortunate to keep feeding them the ball.”
