Lady Tigers finish regular season on winning note

The Osmond Lady Tigers head into subdistrict play with hopes of moving on, finishing the season with wins over Winside and Wausa.

“When the regular schedule is over, every team starts subdistrict play the same; you throw out the season records and all teams start at 0-0,” Coach Terry Viterna said. “Any team can beat any team on a given night.”

Osmond vs. Winside

WINSIDE — Osmond traveled to Winside on Thursday, Feb. 13, and came away with a 35-16 win. Everyone was able to see playing time in this game. Leading the Lady Tigers in scoring were Maddy Huwaldt and Grace Gansebom with 10 and seven points, respectively.

Kiera Moes and Macy Aschoff controlled the boards with 12 and eight rebounds, respectively. Kiera had a BIG game on defense with six steals and nine de ections. Grace dished out four assists. Once again this was a total team effort. OHS had a season low in turnovers with just 15 being committed. Both teams played hard in a defensive contest.

Osmond vs. Wausa

OSMOND — The Lady Tigers played their last game of regular season at home against Wausa on Parent’s Night, Friday, Feb. 14. This also was the last home game for seniors Maddy Huwaldt and Mary Kahny. They will be greatly missed as they both have played a big role on this team. Macy and Grace led the team in scoring with 16 and nine points, respectively, followed by Kiera with seven and the two seniors with six each. This was a very physical, hard fought game. OHS came out on top, 44-39. Macy and Grace also led the team in rebounds with six each, followed by a host of team- mates with rebounds. Once again, the turnovers were fewer, committing only 13 as a team. This was anybody’s game right to the end. “Like I said earlier, throw out season records when it comes to subdistrict time,” Viterna com- mented. “The OHS Lady Tigers do nish their regular season at 10-10. Way to go Tigers!”
